but this part never will.
Even in 50 years Toyota will still use this.

Funny, when a manufacturer finally reaches the near-perfect iteration of a functional part, one wonders why they ever change it? Like the rotary switch to manage headlights. UP is off, counter-clockwise one notch is AUTO, clockwise one is parking lights and two notches is headlights ON.
I’ve seen this exact design on widely different cars across generations, models, years, trim levels... how could it be better? Yet someone will try. I’m sure my next car won’t have it like that. Some fingerprint-sensing internet-time-daylight-savings-integrated wifi-enabled cloud-moisture-density-sensing lifted-index-calculating BS will take its place.

My departed 2010 vibe used the same window cranks (poverty model), as are found in my 85 Toyota pickup (cranks were normal back then). I can’t imagine them using resources to come up with a new window crank.

Nope. Best is the one I have. Up is auto, parking lights and manual low beam are one and two notches clockwise, and one notch counterclockwise (which is springloaded so it can’t remain there but returns to auto) is off. So if you want to kill the lights when you’re parked or something you can, but you can’t drive away with them off.

I really like the old school pull out switches. Partially out is parking lights, all the way out is low beams, and you rotate it to dim/brighten dash lights.

My Prius changed to a different control, so Toyota might actually be ditching it...

Actually, yeah - that’s a good slight variation. I approve!

That’s true, that was pretty universal for a LONG time.
You know what was weird, in my 2001 GMC you could press the dome light button on-off on-off a certain number of times in quick succession, and that’s what turned off the AUTO headlights. I did it accidentally once on a long trip, I was fiddling with the button out of boredom.

Truth, the C-HR has also ditched it for a more Subaru-like one:
The cruise control remains the same one used since forever though, aswell as the digital clock.

Out 02' Echo has the exact same dome light as our 15' Versa Note, I’m sure many more models have it:

I believe that’s the same control as my Prius.
The Prius still has the digital clock, but no control buttons on it, you adjust it through the cluster display’s menu system.

They’ll have to have a little robot arm so the self driving camry can adjust it’s own cameras.

The same can’t be said for Honda. Rip power mirrors on my old EG sedan :(

Don’t forget Lexus. Putting Toyota switchgear in expensive cars since 1989.
